Title: Social Media/Media Intern
Here since: June 2016
What do you do at SKAR?
Every day is different and that’s what I like about being an intern. I get to write blog posts for SKAR and Facebook posts for our clients, schedule social media content and work with the media department in reconciling invoices.
What college classes do you like best?
Honestly, I have taken yoga at UNO three times because I love it so much. But if I had to choose one within my major, it would be any creative writing course.
What do you do in your spare time?
I like to read autobiographies (I just finished the hilarious Amy Schumer book), spend way too much money at Target and watch makeup tutorials on YouTube. I also love spending time with my incredibly wonderful friends, family and two feline children, Milo and Mitzi.
What’s your favorite app?
I am an avid, die-hard Instagrammer (sometimes even twice a day).
What makes you laugh uncontrollably?
My mom. She is a tiny pistol with impeccable comic timing. She never fails to surprise me with what she will say or do next.
What the heck is olsonmovieblog.wordpress.com all about?
My blog is a magnificent mixture of my two favorite things: writing and movies! My dad got me started on all the classic films at a young age (I saw every James Bond movie by the time I was 9). Ever since then, I take every chance I get to watch movies or go to the movie theater. People would ask for my opinion on movies all the time, so I finally decided to create a space where I could put it into writing.
Rumor has it that you like traveling to the East Coast. What does NYC offer that Omaha doesn’t?
My boyfriend, Beau, is in the Air Force and stationed in New Jersey, so when I go to visit, we take the train to NYC or drive to Philly. I love the atmosphere of the big cities and how fast-paced everything is. Every time I go to New York, I make it my mission to spot a celebrity. Last time Beau and I went, we stumbled upon the “Batman vs. Superman” premiere and Ben Affleck waved at me.
Why are you drawn to a career in social media?
I think it is so fascinating how quickly social media evolves. There are always new updates, new apps and new things to learn. It keeps you on your toes, and you’re also able to be incredibly creative. The sky is the limit.
What really pisses you off?
My upstairs neighbors. It sounds like they are constantly tap-dancing with concrete bricks on their feet.
What is your biggest fear?
I have an irrational fear of zombies, especially the ones that run fast.
What do you like about living in Omaha?
Everything except the winter months.
What was your favorite toy as a kid?
I had a nook in my room stocked full of Barbies. I had the Barbie Airplane, Slug Bug and Dreamhouse. You name it, I had it.
If you had to eat one food every day for a year, what would it be?
Hands down, I would eat steamed rice with veggies and teriyaki chicken every day of my life … I’d be perfectly happy.
Name someone you admire.
Beyoncé. She is a strong, powerful woman who worked her way to the top with dedication, pure talent and kindness. I saw her in concert this summer and cried three times.
Name something about yourself that people might say, “Huh, that’s mildly interesting.”
I was the voice of a cartoon character when I was little. You can find me as the voice of Watermelon Kiss in “Strawberry Shortcake: Big Country Fun,” located in the clearance DVD section at Wal-Mart.
