Getting to Know Liz Scott

Title: Art Director
Here for: May 22, 2017

Where did you go to school and why the heck did you go there?
I went to the Creative Center and recently graduated. I found the school by complete luck and fell in love with it! The center focuses solely on graphic design and all aspects of design, including 3-D signage, animation, etc. Going to the Creative Center was the best decision I’ve made in life, thus far.

Why did you choose a career in advertising?
I originally started as an artist, but my school sort of tricked me into the advertising field and I will forever be grateful! Now I continue to pursue advertising because it is so fulfilling. I love creating a design or campaign that reaches the people and spans over multiple media.

What was your favorite class in college?
Related to advertising, probably my design and layout classes. We did a wide variety of projects, and it taught me the importance of space in a design. On the other hand, I really enjoyed my illustration classes too because we had so much creative freedom.

Try to name one thing you like about at SKAR.
Again, the creative freedom. I was really worried coming in that I would be doing little projects or have a design handed to me to create, but I’ve had total creative freedom to design what I want on pretty big projects. Also, the people … everyone here is so friendly and it has been such an awesome environment to work in!

What was your favorite toy as a child?
Probably Polly Pockets or gear related to spying. I was really into “Spy Kids” (not ashamed).

What app do you use most frequently?
Snapchat, for sure. I’m almost to a year on my Snapchat streak with my best friend (we have lives, I promise).

If you inherited a million dollars, what would you do with it?
Pay off my student debt and my family’s debt. If there is money left, I’d get another cat then probably give the rest to my parents because I wouldn’t know what to do with it (other than buy more cats).

If you had to eat the same thing every day, what would it be?
Cane’s chicken sandwich.

What is your favorite movie, music group and breakfast cereal?
Favorite movie – “The Hobbit” series of “Lord of the Rings.”
Music group – I listen to more single artists and Kid Cudi probably would be my top choice.
Breakfast cereal – It used to be known as Oreo cereal, but it’s an off-brand now called cookies and cream, I believe.

Name something about yourself that others might find interesting.
I have watched every season of “Once Upon a Time” 10 times through (except the two newest seasons, those I’ve only seen three times through). I don’t know if that’s interesting or concerning, though!

What makes you laugh hysterically?
Cat videos, my friend Lillian and my niece!

What annoys the hell out of you?
Slow drivers! Oh my gosh, I cannot tell you how much I hate slow drivers. I am a pretty nice person most of the time, but when someone is driving slow and won’t get over, my inner Hulk is released … and she’s not pretty.
